Pilgrimage of the relics of St. Vincent de Paul in Ukraine

At the end of the pilgrimage to the tomb of Blessed S. Martha in Sniatyn on June 25 and 26, this year, the relics of St. Vincent de Paul were brought in solemn procession to the Sanctuary of Bl. Martha.

The reliquary is a relic chest containing a letter from St.Vincent, a rib and a colourway, which were brought a day before from Naples by two priests from the Italian province.

These relics remain in Ukraine until the end of the year and they will be brought to all the communities of our Vice-Province, and at the request of other superiors of churches they may visit other holy places too.

At the beginning of June, the reliquary remained in Sniatyn, where parishioners and residents of Sniatyn came to it. Every day, two hours before the Holy Mass, the temple was opened so that everyone could worship the relics.

Since June 7 to June 14, people of Zabolotiv parish belonging to Ivano-Frankivsk deanery had an opportunity to honor the relics. Local priest Fr. Anthony Wekh gladly accepted the relics to his parish.

The next week the reliquary   traveled to the parish of Rydoduby and Bilobozhnytsia in Chortkiv deanery. Dean Marian Popeliar also gladly received the relics. Throughout the week, the faithful of several parishes had opportunity to pray and ask for the intercession of St.  Vincent de Paul.

The reliquary also visited Lviv and Bryukhovychi (June 23-29), where a meeting of the Sisters of Mercy of Saint Vincent de Paul, serving in Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia was conducted. 36 sisters participated in this meeting. General Councilors S. Carmen Peres and S. Hannah Tsybulia were also present.

After the meeting in Lviv, the reliquary   came back to the Sanctuary of Bl. Martha in Sniatyn, where the faithful had the opportunity to pray for the intercession of St. Vincent de Paul until the end of June.

In early July, the relics of St. Vincent de Paul were brought to the community in Storozhynets, in Bukovyna. There, throughout a month, all parishioners can accept relics and the faithful can honor our Founder.
