NEW STUDENTS GROUP IN DNIPRO

A new catholic students group was established in Dnipro, an eastern city of Ukraine. It is also within the diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhya diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine. The contact and communications with the Franciscans running the church in Dnipro began about two years ago. Finally the inaugural Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Anthony Ekpunobi CM on Saturday 22 of October 2016 at 12 noon.

In attendance were 15 foreign students from India, Nigeria, Cameroun and Angola. The group has a Ukrainian coordinator appointed by the parish priest. The readings were read in all the languages – English, Portuguese, French and Tamil. They students agreed to have the students’ mass on Saturdays. For now the Fr. Anthony will be coming from Kharkov to celebrate the mass every three weeks until things get better. The students are to meet every Friday at six in the hostel to recite the rosary.

In a letter of introduction, the national coordinator Fr Jan Martincek CM, explained the mission with foreign students as it is in Kharkov. He pleaded for continuous cooperation and collaboration.
