Yesterday was the feast of the Visitation of Our Lady to her cousin Elizabeth and besides this feast we had another great celebration, it is the first vows of our sister Vasylyna. The Holly mass was preached in English by father Carl Pieber CM and translated by father Michael.
The exhortation was so profound although it was short . Father Carl spoke about “the sense of joy that Elizabeth and her infant felt by the visit of Mary and that nothing comes by chance but by the spirit of God”. Then he commented, “we see in this visitation the first example of Mary as a mediator. She comes in a Messianic time to prepare John the Baptist to his great role in the salvation of all of us … and Mary through her visitation brought the grace of God in the life of Elizabeth. So Sister Vasylyna” commented father Carl “your life has to be like that one of Mary, you have to bring the grace of God and be God’s mediator to all people you meet and in everything you do even in the drying of dishes”.
Then he thanked S. Vasylyna for giving him the chance to remember his vows and remind him of the meaning of a vow “the desire of giving your life in obedience, in chastity and in poverty like Jesus”… at the end he called the attention of the sister that “the vow is not full Fields it desire…
The vows you take today started long back when you was nine years old or maybe earlier; always remember that. God vowed himself to you from the moment of conception as Mary Immaculate your model. So as you go through life you will find times when these vows help you and it can be a cause of sorrow”, father continue saying: “but always remember that God intensely love you and will never ever abandon you. Now in the Eucharist we can see where’s Christ gave himself to you, to us, for our salvation and we are believing that our vows give us to Christ and that when we die in heaven both our vows and the vows of God love to us will be full filled”.
At the end of the celebration all invited people agreed that the atmosphere was prayerful and that they all felt the presence of God, especially when the sky rained profusely when sister Vasylyna
began to read the vow. The attendants considered this sign a blessing from God.
A small cocktail party which was prepared with lots of love started immediately after the Holly Mass. There was different testy dishes and I think that all Invitees enjoyed food dance and music which was played by one of the invited priests. Where there was formed two teams of men’s and women’s, they race with songs. That was so funny and enjoyable for everyone.
The party was ended by taking so many photos and lots of good wishes to sister Vasylyna.
