Temple feast in the parish of Our Lady of Fatima in Nizhny Tagil

As it was reported before, since May 18 to 22, 2017 the Bishop Joseph Verte had his pastoral visit to the parishes of the Northern Ural.

On Sunday, May 21, Bishop Joseph visited a community of Our Lady of Fatima in Nizhny Tagil.

This visit of the Archpastor was timed to the parish’s jubilee. As a reminder, this community as well as other parishes of the north of Sverdlovsk oblast is patronized by Fathers Anton Ovtar and Anton Yedinak, belonging to the Congregation of St. Vincent de Paul (Lazarists). Sisters of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paul also assist them.

The faithful of St. Anna’s parish from Yekaterinburg Dmitry Kravchenko told on the details of pilgrimage to this year’s temple festival in Nizhny Tagil:

– This year celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Fatima Apparitions coincided with the 20th anniversary of the parish in Nizhny Tagil with the same name. In our parish, a pilgrimage to the temple feast of Tagil locals was organized and this year it was celebrated very specially.
There were a lot of pilgrims: about 30 of them arrived by bus and some more – by car. Having travel by bus, we did not waste our time: we prayed a full Rosary, sang songs in Russian and Vietnamese, and at 3 PM prayed together the Divine Mercy Chaplet.

After our arrival, it turned out that there are more guests than local Tagil parishioners.

The Holy Mass was headed by the Ordinary of the Diocese of Transfiguration Bishop Joseph Verte with assistance of several priests. He dedicated his sermon to the wonderful Fatima apparitions of the Virgin, which occurred 100 years ago near the Portuguese settlement.

Following the words of Mary, the Bishop called on all to pray for the conversion of Russia and its dedication to the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady. Immediately after the festive service, Tagil locals presented a small scene, which also featured events near Fatima.

Then everyone had an opportunity to talk to each other in the parish yard. People talked to each other, to fathers and sisters, many people were glad to take pictures and to talk to their bishop. One of the parishioners gave a picture of the Tagil Temple to the bishop.

As in any well-organized pilgrimage, there was a time for a snack – we should mention that many of our parishioners remembered the delicious sandwiches cooked by natives of Nizhny Tagil for guests.

Coming back home the pilgrims gladly recalled a busy day, in which we were united and gathered by our Lady of Fatima.
