Retreat in Kodyma

“Taking short steps into Bible ” was the topic of our retreat in the nice town of Kodyma. They were held between April 28 and 29, 2018.  Fr. Lukash Hron, parish priest of the Parish of Transfiguration of Our Lord, invited us to spend that weekend together with parish children.

The meeting turned out to be informative for us. We visited the Museum of Kodyma, where we learned about famous pilot who was born there – Stanislav Skalskyi. In addition, we saw how our ancestors lived, what clothes they had and how they used to decorate their homes. We took a close look at antique things that remained from the Liubomyrskys noble family, who actually were the founders of that town. Moreover, we saw enormous teeth of a mastodon…

As we continued our excursion, we went to a Catholic cemetery and a Catholic church owned by the Orthodox Church since after the World War 2. In a few steps from that church, our Roman Catholic church is located, where we stayed after all. Just like on every our retreat, there was no lack in prayer, conferences, work in groups, new encounters, talks, fun activities and a bit of naughtiness. On Sunday, after the Holy Mass, we presented to parishioners our screenplay about the apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to St. Catherine Labouré. Then we distributed miraculous medals and sang a song honoring Our Heavenly Mom.

We are sincerely grateful to Fr. Lukash for inviting us and preparing such a fascinating weekend for us. We also thank Our Lord for those graces we have received and for a chance to spend that time with purpose.
