Practical training in Balta

“What kind of life I had before and I have now?” That kind of question I asked myself as I was doing my practical training in a community of the Sisters of Charity in the town of Balta. So, the Sisters suggested that I share with my feelings about it.

Balta is a nice town in which just like everywhere else people are in a hurry for work, while children go to school or kindergarten… If you do not glance deeply, you will find everything seems just perfect outwardly. However, the Sisters do not look at the exterior…

My duty was helping the Sisters at a children’s day care center (“Svitlytsia”) that was open Tuesday to Sunday. Kids can come there to play, to have lunch, to do their homework, take a shower and to develop their skills. Some of them play guitar, others play piano and some even play violin. Those are lovely children hungry for love, understanding, warmth, support and advice. They love and know how to be grateful, and they long for one simple thing – to be loved… After all, they deserve it.

For me personally, that was a time for saying thank you to the Lord for the gift of my life, for my parents and my family. Way of living, relationships, family circumstances and conditions of those kids made me become detached from myself and look deeper, take a look with God’s eyes. There was a time when Christ’s presence in people with wounds, which were the result of human neglect, was hidden to me. Now I know I must be grateful to the Lord and praise Him for every moment of my live, because He is with me every minute no matter what!

It is crucial to know there is nothing that happens to no purpose, and those circumstances we have experienced before will help us further in life. The Lord does not give us anything for no reason and beyond our strength.

I believe experiences those children have will help them in their adult life.

I am sure the Lord is beside them and that Sisters’ love and care will bear plenty of fruits. There is no such a person the Lord would forget about…

If people living in abundance wished to share…

If families not having children opened the doors of their homes to others in need – how much more happiness and joy there would be in the world…
