Precisely 190 years ago, on November 27, 1830, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Catherine Laboure at the chapel of Sisters of Charity situated on Du Bac Street in Paris. That young Sister was assigned by Virgin Mary to spread the medal in accordance to the image and inscription sample presented to her.
That was a tremendous privilege, a mission and a duty!
At those special and challenging times for both the society and the Church, a new parish is being founded in Lviv in Levandivka residential community, where presently a small chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Miraculous Medal is located. Therein, the first parish feast day dedicated to the Mother of God was held on Friday, November 27, 2020.
At parish priest Fr. Vladyslav Bismak’s, CM, invitation, Leonid Kuklyshyn, CM, Superior of the Vice-Province of Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Ukraine, arrived at the festival and celebrated the Holy Mass. In addition, priests of the Lviv Deanery and parish priest of the Greek Catholic community in Levandivka area Fr. Yaroslav were also present at the feast. The latter came there together with his parishioners.
May the Blessed Virgin Mary, who revealed the medal to the world, beg the Lord to send all necessary graces to everyone honoring and wearing this splendid gift of Mary and calling unto Her: “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee!”
