Ordination to the Priesthood and First Holy Mass

“I give You my heart and mind,

soul and body to become Your instrument of love.”

On Saturday, August 22, 2020, in a family atmosphere, we were united by the joyful event of the ordination of the Deacon of the Congregation of Mission Serhiy Penkivsky, CM. Father Serhiy received the priestly ordination from the hands of Bishop Vitaliy Kryvytskyi, SDB, in the Co-Cathedral of St. Alexander in Kyiv. As Father Bishop pointed out, the priesthood is a ministry and a way to salvation, the priest is called to carry the Sacraments to the people and to be the one in whom people will meet Jesus. After the ordination ceremony, all those present were invited to continue the celebration in the Provincial House of God’s Gift.

On Sunday, August 23, in the city of Ruzhyn, another very joyful event took place: the first Holy Mass, which was for first time presided over by the newly ordained Fr. Serhiy. A very touching event for mom and dad, sisters and brother and many invited priests, consecrated persons, guests and all who participated in the Liturgy.

After the Holy Mass, Father Serhiy thanked everyone for their prayers, support, love and gave a blessing to all the faithful. The celebration ended with a festive dinner.

Let us remember him in our prayers, asking the Virgin Mary for the necessary graces in further ministry. Thank God for the gift of a priestly vocation!
