This is a story about a client of ours who begins a new life at the age of 85!
In her respected age, the lady has suffered a lot of hardships but still managed to survive without losing hope for a better future!
Eugenia was born as well as has spent her whole life in the town of Stakhanov, Luhansk region. Twice she was awarded for hard and diligent work as a miner by the President of Ukraine. However, the events of 2014 in Donetsk region have changed her life completely.
Eugenia witnessed her son’ death in a tragic accident. What is more, she was left homeless after certain military operations. Eugenia was no supporter of pro-Russian movements which were common in the town. Therefore, she had to move to Kharkiv. The old lady addressed our organization after spending some time in the city. There, unfortunately she had bad luck in finding secure accommodations and peace of mind after a myriad of tragedies.
Each day Eugenia came to the project’s station “Street outreach” to get necessary food, support and help.
One day she didn’t come. It was clear – something happened. Eugenia was found in an ambulance hospital. As it turned out, she was violently beaten and all her possessions along with documents were stolen. An ambulance took her to hospital in a critical condition. She had a head hematoma, bruises and heart aches. Eugenia was scared and hopeless.
The organization’s staff struggled to find Eugenia’s documents. Now we are busy with moving her to a military hospital where the old lady would have a chance for long-lasting rehabilitation and she is in a desperate need for it.
Still, the life goes on. Finding inner strength to move on and face future challenges is crucial.
