A Special Meeting – day 8

A Special Meeting.
Today is a special day for all branches of the Vincentian Family in Sniatyn, where is located the Center of Vincentian Spirituality, whose patron is Blessed Marta Wiecka. On this day, we had the visit of Fr. Tomaž Mavrič CM, the Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity.
At the beginning of Fr. Tomaž’s stay in the Sniatyn region, we were able to visit the orphanage in Zaluchya, where the DePaul Ukraine has been operating for many years. Fr. Tomaž’s sincere heart brought much joy to the residents and staff there.
The next item on the visit’s program was a visit to the Blessed Marta Wiecka Charity Center, which is run by the Daughters of Charity. Father Tomaž was able to feel the atmosphere of the “Svitlytsia” (common room), learn about the rehabilitation process for children with disabilities. Also, during lunch, the sisters presented their activities in the realities of war.
Later, we were able to pray together for a just peace for Ukraine near the tomb of Blessed Marta Wiecka, as since the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion, a constant daily prayer for peace in Ukraine has been held every day at 3:00 PM. We also visited the Alley of Glory to pay tribute to the fallen soldiers who gave their lives for Ukraine.
Fr. Tomaž also visited the House of Mercy for displaced persons, where he was able to briefly learn about their life stories and express his support to them.
The main event of the day was a joint Rosary prayer and Holy Mass with representatives of the Vincentian Family and parishioners. To conclude the day’s program, a joint meeting of members of the AIC charitable group and DePaul Ukraine took place, where during refreshments, Fr. Tomaž shared his impressions of his stay in Ukraine, presented the charitable initiative of the Alliance for Homeless “13 Houses,” and spoke about various missions around the world.
Tomorrow, Fr. Tomaž will continue his journey towards Transcarpathia. And we promise to unite in prayer to thank God for this blessed time…
