The inauguration of the fourth Visitor to the Vice-Province of St. Cyril and Methodius and beginning of the pilgrimage of the relics of St. Vincent de Paul

On October 1, several important events took place at the God’s Gift House.

There was the inauguration of the fourth visitor of the Vice-Province of St. Cyril and Methodius – Father Leonid Kuklyshyn СМ. Fr. Jan Tzop СМ was a Visitor before him.

Father Jaroslav Jaššo СМ, a provincial of the Slovak province, a representative from the Polish province Fr. Przemyslaw Nowakowski СМ, as well as Fathers Missionaries from various houses of Congregation of Mission in Ukraine, Marian Sisters and parishioners came to greet a new Visitor.

The pilgrimage of the relics of St. Vincent de Paul in Kyiv began on the same day. These were the first- and second-degree relics – a rib, a letter written by the hand of St. Vincent de Paul, and a piece of a collar of the saint’s cassock. The idea of pilgrimage appeared during the 400th anniversary of the Vincentian Charism and now we can honor and pray with his intercession in the very heart of the Congregation of Mission in Ukraine – at the God’s Gift House. These relics will travel to the Catholic parishes of the city of Kyiv until the end of October, and later they will be transported for further worship in the parishes of Transcarpathia.

In his sermon, Fr. Leonid said: «The relics have been traveling around Ukraine for almost six months. We strive for the intercession of St. Vincent to fill the entire Vincentian family and its adherents around the world, so that new hearts were lighted up, and so that we could bring the love of God, the love to our neighbor into the world, as St. Vincent did».

Former Visitor of the Vice-Province Fr. Jan Tzop СМ thanked God for these three years of ministry. «I am grateful for all the grace, for the help and support. Thanks to confreres and sisters who served together».

Father Anatolii noted that it is no coincidence that these events occurred on the day when we are celebrating the memory of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus. She was a modest, simple sister, but now she is the patron saint of missions. Could it be a coincidence that today we are welcoming the relics of St. Vincent de Paul, our Founder, Missionary Father, and the liturgical memory of the patron saint of missions?! No, this is not a coincidence! And this is not a coincidence that Fr. Leonid, our confrere, is taking up the post of Visitor of our Vice-Province today. This is God’s will! The Lord guides us and empowers us daily to develop ourselves and to grow our faith in God.

Let our founder St. Vincent de Paul lead and inspire the Visitor in his ministry, and let the good Lord strengthen and enforce him! Let the fruits of mercy be increased!
