Hanna Birkovych (Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Svaliava)

It has been 30 days since Hanna Birkovych passed from among us. Quiet, even-tempered, reasonable, obedient and luminous, she was one of the most active members of our Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Svaliava. She used to take part in all events of the Society with enthusiasm: delivered dinners to the poor and lonely unconnected people, prayed sincerely together with families for their deceased, made donations, went on pilgrimages, baked Vincentian gingerbreads for fairs, actively participated in novenas and meetings.

In her person, we had a “Good Samaritan” and an effective participant in every event or campaign of our community. It was a really great loss to us. She is an example for us, although she is not among us anymore.

Hanna’s chief and most noticeable traits were obedience and forbearance. No matter how much pain she suffered, she never complained, bore everything with patience and prayed constantly: for the community, for priests, for the family, for her children and grandchildren, for peace in Ukraine… She prayed quietly for everything.

In memory of this outstanding person, Hanna Birkovych, we also should pray with hope for her to receive a grace in Our Father’s House to intercede for us.
