 23rd August 1617 – 23rd August 2017

AIC celebrates on 23rd August 400 years since the foundation of the first group of Charities

On this big day, all 150,000 volunteers in the AIC network

will celebrate the foundation of AIC, which 400 years later, continues to be active and full of life.

To commemorate this important date, 23rd AUGUST, on which Saint Vincent officially founded the first Confraternity of Charity and gave the First Rule to the new group of “Ladies of Charity” in Châtillon-les-Dombes, France,

AIC invites all its volunteers to join in praying the AIC prayer for the Jubilee Year, at 10am, in groups or individually (you will find the prayer attached).

In the same way, AIC extends this invitation to all the members of the Vincentian Family to join us in this day of prayer, as our brothers and sisters, so that

on 23rd August, a great wave of prayers is sent up to Heaven.

As we have informed you previously, in Châtillon, France, a big celebration is planned from 20th-23rd August.

COMMITMENT PRAYER

Lord, Jesus Christ, from the time of our baptism we have belonged to you and since then we have professed our faith countless times. Today, in the presence of the whole Church we come before you and we consecrate ourselves to you. We commit ourselves to avoid sin and to deepen our relationship with you and with our brothers and sisters. With your grace, we commit ourselves to imitate your unconditional love for all people, especially as we serve those men and women who are most poor and abandoned. May we follow the example of Saint Vincent and Saint Louise and walk along the paths of the gospel. At the same time, may we provide for the spiritual and material welfare of those who are poor, those persons in whom you reveal yourself, you who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
