A blessing of the New House of Sisters of Mary of the Miraculous Medal
“Unless a wheat grain falls into the earth and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies it yields a rich harvest.” John 12,24
A blessing of the New House of Sisters of Mary of the Miraculous Medal took place on June 1 in the village of Turii Remety, Perechyn district in Transcarpathia. Sisters of Mary are inspired with the example of Our Lady, who is hurrying to her relative Elizabeth. Leopoldine Brandis, a founder of this congregation, wrote: «As Virgin Mary hurries to Elizabeth, so must the Sisters of Mary hurry to the homes of sick and needy to bring them help and comfort».
Sisters of Mary have been working in Turii Remety and surrounding villages since 2016. Sisters visit lonely and sick people at their homes, conduct catechesis with children (organize cooking classes and various handmade crafts interest groups), and help the poor and needy people in the spirit of Saint Vincent de Paul.
